Asia Mustard Salad Moutarde Rouge Metis [Brassica juncea]

 Description 
The Asian salad 'Moutarde Rouge Metis' is a biennial and fast-growing leaf mustard cabbage from the Middle East. The hardy mustard cabbage has intensely red and finely serrated leaves with green stems. The particularly delicate taste is medium hot with a pleasant spicy mustard aroma. Asian salads are eaten fresh or cooked. The variety is high-yielding and can be harvested over a long period of time.

We recommend direct sowing in the autumn when temperatures are falling from September to November. The plants should ideally be located in a sunny spot and protected from the wind.

We recommend direct sowing in the autumn from July to September and sowing for overwintering from mid-September to early October. The location of the plants is ideally sheltered from the wind and sunny.

 General recommendations 
We recommend direct sowing in rows or broadcast sowing. After germination, thin out the plants to the specified plant spacing. Harvest in a similar way to lamb's lettuce.
Asian mustard cabbage 'Moutarde Rouge Metis' does not tolerate waterlogging.

 Additional tips 
For a longer harvest period, the flower bases should be broken out and care should be taken not to damage the heart during harvesting. Harvest the leaves from the outside inwards to keep growth stable. To prevent cabbage flies from laying eggs, it is advisable to use vegetable protection nets. To quickly obtain a fine, crumbly and permeable soil with good nutrient and water storage capacity, it is advisable to also incorporate biochar and primary rock flour.
